Title: Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh getImage and classloader Vulnerabilities
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
A malicious web site operator could download image files from any web server even if they are placed behind a firewall or extract segments of executable Java programs through the use of a http redirect and an applet that implements the getImage or classloader function.
The getImage vulnerability makes it possible for the retrieval of image files from any web server. The image files can be directed to the originating server where the applet resides or to another location. The classloader vulnerability allows for the download of parts of executable Java programs where sensitive information may be stored.
For both vulnerabilities, an attacker would have to know the filename and path of the desired file.
Affected Products:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Macintosh Edition 4.0.1
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Macintosh Edition 4.5.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Macintosh Edition 5.0.0
