Title: MySQL MaxDB WebDAV Lock Token Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
MySQL MaxDB is a re-branded version of SAP DB that includes certain enhancements. It supports multiple interfaces including ODBC and JDBC. It is freely available for the Microsoft Windows platform.
A remote buffer overflow vulnerability affects MySQL MaxDB. This issue is due to a failure of the application to properly validate the length of user-supplied strings prior to copying them into static process buffers.
The problem presents itself when the WebDAV functionality of the Web tool attempts to handle a malicious HTTP requests with the unlock method; if an excessively long token string is provided, a stack-based overflow will occur. Specifically, this issue arises in the 'getLockTokenHeader()' function call when a 'strcpy()' is implemented to copy user-supplied data into a finite process buffer.
An attacker may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user that activated the vulnerable application. This may facilitate unauthorized access or privilege escalation.
