Gaim is an instant-messaging client that supports numerous protocols. It is available for UNIX and Linux platforms.
Gaim is reported prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. It is reported that the issue occurs in the 'gaim_markup_strip_html' function. The issue manifests when the Gaim client handles a malformed HTML string triggering an out-of-bounds read operation. Reports indicate that the denial of service occurs due to an application crash.
A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to deny service for legitimate users.
