Title: Phorum HTTP Response Splitting Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Phorum is a freely available web based content management system. It is implemented in PHP using an SQL database back-end and will run on Unix and Unix variants as well as Microsoft Windows.

A remote HTTP response splitting vulnerability reportedly affects Phorum. This issue is due to a failure of the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input.

The problem presents itself when an attacker sends malicious input to the 'Location' parameter. Apparently, the application fails to properly sanitize this parameter prior to using it to load dynamic content.

A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to influence or misrepresent how web content is served, cached, or interpreted. This could aid in various attacks that attempt to entice client users into a false sense of trust.

This issue was reported to affect Phorum version 5.0.14a; other versions might also be affected.
