Title: SafeNet Sentinel License Manager Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

SafeNet Sentinel License Manager is a framework that attempts to facilitate license management for third party software developers. It is commercially available for the Microsoft Window Platform.

A remote buffer overflow vulnerability affects SafeNet Sentinel License Manager. This issue is due to a failure of the application to securely copy network-derived data into finite process buffers.

The problem presents itself when the application receives excessively large network messages; apparently sending any message to an affected application will trigger this issue. Further details are not available; this BID will be updated as more information is released.

An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.

It should be noted that although only Sentinel License Manager 7.2.0.2 is reportedly vulnerable it is likely that earlier versions are vulnerable as well.

Affected Products:

  • SafeNet Sentinel License Manager 7.2.0 .0.2
