Title: KarjaSoft Sami HTTP Server Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
KarjaSoft Sami HTTP server is a freeware Web server designed to be implemented on the Microsoft Windows platform.
Multiple remote vulnerabilities affect KarjaSoft Sami HTTP server. These issues are due to poor input validation and a failure to handle malformed network-based requests.
The first issue is a directory traversal issue. Apparently an attacker can gain access to any file on an affected computer with the privileges of the affected Web server. This may be achieved by sending requests that contain directory traversal strings.
The second issue is a denial of service issue. This issue arises when the affected server receives a network message containing two carriage return characters, "/r/n/r/n". Apparently such data will cause the affected server to dereference a NULL pointer, triggering a crash leading to a denial of service condition. It has been speculated that this issue arises when the affected server processes any data that does not contain an HTTP request, although this is not confirmed.
An attacker may leverage these issues to reveal files outside of the Web server root directory or to crash the affected server.
