Title: Cisco IP/VC Videoconferencing System SNMP Remote Default Community String Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

Cisco IP/VC Videoconferencing System devices attempt to provide an IP based video conferencing solution. The IP/VC devices support the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), allowing administrators with knowledge of a device's community strings to carry out remote administration.

A default community string vulnerability affects Cisco IP/VC Video Conferencing System devices. This issue is due to a design flaw where hard coded community strings are stored on the device.

The problem presents itself as the affected devices contain hard-coded Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) community strings. Apparently it is impossible for administrators to alter these community strings. This would allow an attacker with knowledge of the community strings to gain administrator access to the affected devices.

This issue may be leveraged to gain unauthorized administrator access to affected devices. This would allow an attacker to create new services, terminate or affect existing sessions, and redirect traffic to a different destination, among other attacks.
