Title: Techland XPand Rally Remote Denial Of Service Vulnerability

Description:

XPand Rally is a computer game that is developed by Techland. XPand Rally includes a game server and client. Multiple clients may connect to this server in order to play XPand Rally together.

XPand Rally client and server are reported prone to a remote denial of service vulnerability. It is reported that a 32-bit value in XPand Rally packet data is employed by both the game server and client as a size argument for a malloc() operation. Reports indicate that when a sufficiently large or small value is supplied, the malloc() allocation will fail and a NULL pointer is returned to the affected software. When this pointer is employed in a read or write operation the software will crash.

It is reported that this vulnerability may be exploited by a malicious game server to crash all running instances of the game client because of the broadcast methods used to track game servers online.

A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to deny service to legitimate users.
