Title: VBulletin Init.PHP Unspecified Remote Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

VBulletin is a commercially available web based bulletin board application. It is implemented in PHP and may be run on Unix and Unix variants operating systems as well as Microsoft Windows.

VBulletin is reported prone to an unspecified vulnerability that presents itself in the 'includes/init.php' script. It is conjectured that the vulnerability exists due to a lack of sufficient sanitization performed on the '$referrer_parts[port]' URI parameter before this parameter is concatenated into the '$thishost' variable.

Specifically, '$referrer_parts[port]' may contain any data and is not restricted to being an integer value.

It is reported that this vulnerability may be exploited to compromise an affected VBulletin installation; this compromise may include information disclosure. The affect of this issue is dependant on how the '$thishost' variable is employed and this information was not currently available at the time of writing.

This BID will be updated, as further information regarding this vulnerability is made available.
