Title: HTGET URI Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
HTGET is a file transfer client. It is available for UNIX/Linux variants.
HTGET is prone to a buffer overflow vulnerability. This vulnerability is exposed when the software handles a malformed URI. Although specific details have not been made available, this issue is likely the result of source data being copied without sufficient bounds checking into a finite destination buffer. This could allow an attacker to overrun adjacent regions of memory with attacker-specified data.
Successful exploitation may result in execution of arbitrary code in the context of the client user.
