Title: Yard Radius Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

Yard Radius is a RADIUS server implementation for Linux/UNIX platforms.

Yard Radius is prone to a remotely exploitable stack-based buffer overflow. The cause of this vulnerability appears to be an strcpy() operation that copies data into a finite buffer without adequately limiting the size of the source data. In particular, the issue exists in the process_menu() function in the 'menu.c' source file and is due to an unbounded string copy of the contents of '&attr->strvalue[5]' into the 'menu-name' destination variable. This may permit for externally-supplied data to corrupt adjacent regions of stack memory, potentially corrupting sensitive stack variables related to execution flow of the program. This issue could reportedly be exploited prior to authentication.

Successful exploitation may result in execution of arbitrary code in the context of the server, which may be running as the superuser.
