Description:

Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold is a network monitoring and management application for the Microsoft Windows platform.

The Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold web interface is prone to a remotely exploitable buffer overflow vulnerability.

The source of the vulnerability is insufficient bounds checking of Notification instance names that are provided to the web interface. This could let an attacker corrupt sensitive regions of memory that may be sufficient to control execution flow of the program. This may be exploited by authenticated users of the interface to execute arbitrary code in the context of the program.
