Title: Samba Web Administration Tool Base64 Decoder Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Description:
Samba is a freely available file and printer sharing application maintained and developed by the Samba Development Team. Samba supports a web administration tool (SWAT) by default that facilitates configuration through a web browser from a remote host.
It has been reported that Samba Web Administration Tool (SWAT) is affected by a base64 decoder buffer overflow vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure of the application to properly validate buffer boundaries when copying user-supplied input into a finite buffer.
The problem is reported to present itself when SWAT attempts to decode base64 data supplied from the user during HTTP basic authentication. An invalid base64 character reportedly triggers this issue; it is currently not known which character this is.
The same affected base64 decoding code is used to decode the sambaMungedDial attribute value when using the ldapsam passdb backend. This issue may also affect Samba servers using LDAP directory service; an attacker with privileges to write to the sambaSamAccount attributes might be able to leverage this issue as well. This is not confirmed.

Successful exploitation of this issue will allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected computer with the privileges of the affected process; Samba typically runs with superuser privileges.
