Title: 4D WebStar Multiple Remote Information Disclosure Vulnerabilities
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
4D WebStar is an application providing web, FTP and email services for Apple Mac OS X.
4D WebStar is reportedly affected by multiple information disclosure vulnerabilities. These issues are due to a failure of the application to properly validate user-supplied requests.
The first issue presents itself when an attacker requests an arbitrary directory on the affected computer; if the path request is followed by a '*' character the attacker will gain access to the directory listing.
Successful exploitation of this issue will allow an attacker to list arbitrary directories on the affected computer. This might facilitate further attacks against the affected computer.
The second issue presents itself when an attacker requests the 'php.ini' file from either the /cgi-bin or /fcgi-bin directories. Apparently the server will present this file to any requesting attacker.
Successful exploitation of this issue will allow an attacker to gain access to the 'php.ini' file on the affected computer. This file contains sensitive PHP configuration details and may be used to carry out further attacks against the affected computer.
