Description:
3Com SuperStack network switches are fully configurable and include a web configuration interface to facilitate remote configuration.
It is reported that 3Com SuperStack switches are affected by a denial of service vulnerability. This issue arises due to a failure of the device to handle exceptional input.
The problem is reported to present itself when a specially crafted malicious message is sent to the web interface of the affected device. The malicious message will reportedly cause the switch to reset. This issue could produce a persistent denial of service condition by continual transmission of the malicious message.
Details currently available are not sufficient to provide a more in depth technical description. This BID will be updated when more information becomes available.
This issue will allow an attacker to cause the affected device to reset, denying service to legitimate users.
