Description:

3Com OfficeConnect Remote 812 ADSL Router is an Internet gateway device. The device provides a web configuration interface to allow for remote administration.

3Com OfficeConnect Remote 812 ADSL Router is reportedly affected by an authentication bypass vulnerability through its web configuration interface.

Apparently by making multiple successive attempts to log into the affected device using random usernames and passwords, it is possible to authenticate with any username and password; valid usernames and passwords are not required.

It is currently not known how this issue is triggered. It has been speculated that some exceptional condition causes the authentication code to be bypassed; however this is currently unverified.

Successful exploitation of this issue would allow an attacker to gain administrative access to the affected device.
