Title: OpenBSD ISAKMPD Malformed IPSEC SA Payload Denial Of Service Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
isakmpd is the IKE key management daemon provided with OpenBSD. isakmpd is used when negotiating security associations in authenticated or encrypted network traffic and is normally used to facilitate VPN.
OpenBSD is prone to a vulnerability that would allow an attacker to cause the isakmpd daemon to crash, denying service to legitimate users. This issue is due to a failure of the process to handle ISAKMP packets with malformed IPSEC SA payloads.
The problem presents itself when a malformed IPSEC SA payload is issued to the affected daemon. This will cause the daemon to attempt to dereference unallocated memory and crash, effectively denying service to legitimate users.
This issue was previously reported in OpenBSD isakmpd Multiple Unspecified Remote Denial Of Service Vulnerabilities (BID 9907). That BID will be retired.
