Title: ADA IMGSVR Remote Directory Listing Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
ImgSvr is a server that allows remote users to browse and share image files. It is freely available under the GNU Public License for Linux and Microsoft Windows.
A vulnerability has been reported in the ImgSvr server software that may allow a remote user to the disclose root directory listings.
The problem presents itself when a malicious user crafts an URI request containing '%00' values. When properly formatted the request will present the malicious user with the contents of the server directory. This issue is exploitable to list the server root directory and any subdirectories contained therein.
It has also been reported that this issue can be leveraged to list directories that reside outside of the server root directory. This problem presents itself when a request is made to the server containing directory traversal string without specifying any specific file. This will present the requestor with a directory listing of any server readable files on the affected system.
An attacker may leverage this issue to gain access to sensitive information by disclosing directory listings; information disclosed in this way could lead to further attacks against the target system.
