The Problem

Typical telepresence network solutions use proprietary technology for signaling and encoding, making interoperability with other telepresence network solutions difficult at best. In addition, these telepresence network solutions often require a costly dedicated network just to ensure the quality of the service, which results in wasted bandwidth when no telepresence sessions are active.

Working together, Juniper Networks and Polycom offer higher telepresence bandwidth utilization and lower WAN costs, while supporting immersive telepresence and traditional room systems on a common network infrastructure. With this telepresence network bandwidth solution, service providers can offer cost-effective high-value network telepresence, HD video conferencing, and desktop video service delivery.

The Products

Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways for the branch, as well as traditional WAN routers, identify and prioritize telepresence bandwidth traffic. For an additional level of telepresence network efficiency, Polycom's DMA system communicates with our SRC Series to ensure telepresence bandwidth availability and service quality.

• SRX Series Services Gateways: The SRX Series connects, secures, and manages enterprise and service provider networks, from the smallest sites to the largest headquarters and data centers. As an application layer gateway, the SRX Series gateways recognize and prioritize telepresence network bandwidth traffic as it traverses the WAN. As WAN edge platforms, they concurrently support voice, video, and data.
• MX Series Ethernet Services Routers: The MX Series delivers scalable performance along with rich services and features. Their top performance and line rate QoS make the MX Series routers the ideal network platforms for supporting real-time, high-bandwidth telepresence and videoconferencing services.
• SRC Series Session and Resource Control Modules: In conjunction with Polycom Distributed Media application (DMA), our SRC Series provides an integrated network solution for reliable delivery of telepresence and videoconferencing services.
