Juniper's Application Delivery Controller (ADC) is a Junos Application Software that provides Layer 4-7 traffic load-balancing. The Application Delivery Controller is optionally licensed for the MX Series routers, which simplifies network design and lowers costs by eliminating specialized Application Delivery Controller appliances, while concurrently protecting investments in Junos and the MX 3D Universal Edge Routers.

  • Proven technology: Juniper Networks router-integrated Application Delivery Controller software is based on Alteon ADC technology from Radware, leveraging the product maturity and advanced feature set deployed by thousands of enterprises and service providers worldwide. Radware is the global leader in integrated application delivery solutions.
  • Maximum performance and efficiency: The Application Delivery Controller employs sophisticated load balancing algorithms that ensure optimal performance and service quality by intelligently distributing and directing traffic based on real time changes in server load and availability.
  • Flexibility: The Application Delivery Controller addresses the resiliency and performance requirements of many types of services and applications, including DNS, WAP gateways, CDNs, SIP based VoIP services, which complements the MX Series comprehensive set of L2-L7 services.
  • Reduced costs: Integrating advanced Application Delivery Controller capabilities with the MX240, MX480 or MX960 eliminates the cost and complexity of qualifying, sparing, and maintaining standalone Application Delivery Controller appliances. In addition, unlike ADC appliances, the router integrated ADC does not consume additional network interfaces or rack space.
  • Consistent management environment: Junos integration permits the Application Delivery Controller and the MX Series router to share the same management tools, and the Application Delivery Controller utilizes pre-existing Junos integration with Operational Support Systems (OSS), which further reduces costs and risk.
  • Juniper quality: The optionally licensed Application Delivery Controller is a Juniper validated, sold and support application that is easily added to MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers through a simple software upgrade. The MX Series provides an ideal foundation for Application Delivery Controller integration.
