Portugal's Media Capital Group Speeds IOL Internet Portal With Redline Networks Web I/O Acceleration
Systems Integrator, WhatEverNet Provides Solution To Portugal's Second Most Popular Internet Portal
Campbell, Calif, and Lisbon, Portugal, July 15, 2002 Portugal's Media Capital Group, one of the largest media groups in Portugal, implemented Redline Networks Web I/O Acceleration at their IOL Internet portal. Systems integrator WhatEverNet, accomplished the implementation in early June, in cooperation with Allasso, Redline Networks' distributor in Portugal. Media Capital Groups' IOL Internet portal is Portugal's second most popular web portal and ranks as the third-largest ISP in Portugal.
According to Fernando Soares, IOL's IT technical manager "IOL is growing very fast, faster than any other site in Portugal. Since our beginning, we've had to deal with an enormous and continuous amount of transfer data in the systems. Any solution that allows us to cost-effectively scale our traffic, and increase our page views deserves our attention."
The biggest test of this solution was during FIFA's World Cup. "June was a record traffic month on IOL's sites. And it was the best month in terms of quality service. I recognize that Redline Networks Acceleration solution had an important share in this success and in our immediate performance improvements. PC Guia readers, a popular IT magazine, praised IOL as the best ISP site," said Fernando Soares. He continued with praise for the relationship with systems integrator, WhatEverNet. "We choose to maintain the relationship due to an excellent quality of service and performance."
The Redline Networks Web I/O Acceleration solution was deployed alongside IOL's existing web server farm and network equipment and required no modification or disruption to the existing web site. The deployment provided an immediate performance improvement, cutting bandwidth costs in half, accelerating content to modem and broadband users and increasing network and server capacity.
"Our implementation at Media Capital Group's IOL portal reinforces the strong positioning of WhatEverNet's technological integration competences in a strategic client and market area," said Ricardo Fernandes, WhatEverNet's business services manager. "The Redline Networks solution optimizes the current resources at IOL's data center and provided immediate performance improvements, and a rapid return-on-investment."
