The 2001 TNE Awards: Sunny Side Up - The Net Economy
"Savvy" may not be the most obvious description for a company that decides to take on Cisco Systems, but Juniper was one of the few companies to get through 2001 relatively unscathed. After taking a huge chunk out of Cisco's market share lead in the core router space, Juniper made aggressive moves toward the edge router market in 2001.

Juniper Wins!—Expanded Light Reading Core Router Test esults
Recently Light Reading, a leading information resource for the optical networking industry, completed a highly anticipated, ground-breaking series of tests for Internet Core routers. Awards were given out in five key categories: Best IP, Best MPLS, Best OC-48, Best OC-192, and Best Overall.
Winners were chosen from participants including Charlotte's Networks, Cisco Systems, Foundry, and Juniper Networks. Tests were commissioned by Light Reading and conducted by an independent test consultant, Network Test, Inc. Juniper Networks shared top honors in one category, and scored winning results in all remaining categories including Best Overall router.

Nikkei Industry Award for Superiority

M160 Internet Router Wins "Nikkei Industry Award for Superiority"
In 2000, 17 products from 23 companies received the Nikkei Award of Most Superior and 32 products from 34 companies received the Nikkei Award of Superiority out of 15,000 newly released products identified by the Nikkei papers. The M160 Internet router was one of eight products selected for the "Nikkei Industry Award for Superiority," in the Information & Communication Equipment division of the Nikkei Industry publication for its "World Fastest Internet Backbone Router."
