The T1600 is a true multiservice core system that delivers a reliable, high-performance, and flexible core backbone architecture to carry a wide breadth of services over a common IP/MPLS infrastructure. With 1.6Tbps terabits of line rate throughput in a half rack chassis, the T1600 is a leader in 100GE deployments globally, and upgradeable in-service to the next generation T Series.
At 19 inches wide and a half rack in height, the multichassis capable Juniper Networks T1600 Core Router addresses the need for highly scalable, high-performance core routing at a fraction of the size of competitive offerings. The T1600 delivers up to 1.6 Tbps of capacity (100 Gbps/slot) with the ability to forward up to 1.92 billion pps.
Juniper provides unique capabilities for upgrading T Series routers to accommodate the changing requirements of service providers. For example, the T640 can grow in-service into a T1600 by only replacing the power module and switch fabric. Following such an upgrade, the T1600 provides more than double the capacity of T640, while only using fractionally more power.
The packet forwarding and switching complex of a T1600 supports 100 Gbps per slot. Current interface configurations include up to 8 100GbE ports, 80/160 10GbE (line rate/oversubscribed), 16 OC-768c/STM-256 ports, 64 OC-192/STM-64 ports.
The T1600 also supports lower speed interfaces for those wishing to combine high-speed core routing with dedicated access aggregation in a single platform.
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Densest Multi-terabit capacity and multichassis scalability | Explosive growth in social networking, video and many other applications are driving traffic growth exponentially. The T Series scale and density allows service providers to increase seamlessly as the needs grow. |
| High availability systems | High availability (HA) and continuous operation are critical in core routing, where loss of a single routing node can remove service for a wide geographical area. Offering full ISSU support, the T Series is the most reliable system powering core networks today. Key benefits include higher network availability, better network stability, easier operations, and less operational risks. |
| In Service Hardware Upgrade | Any T Series chassis can be upgraded to a future generation system while in full service. One of the most popular innovations from Juniper, this feature offers operators unprecedented investment protection to future technology. |
| Widest range of interface support | With the highest densities in Ethernet and SONET/SDH interfaces, the T Series not only powers some of the largest Ethernet and SONET/SDH cores but is also key to the operators in the transition phase to Ethernet. |
