CALLPLUS SELECTS JUNIPER NETWORKS FOR NATIONWIDE MPLS INFRASTRUCTURE
Upstart Telco Gears Up for Ultra-Fast Broadband Era
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Dec. 12, 2011– Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), the industry leader in network innovation, today announced that CallPlus Services Ltd has established a nationwide MPLS network infrastructure running on the Juniper Networks® Junos® operating system. Deployment of Juniper Networks MX80 3D Universal Edge Routers installed at its 24 points-of-presence around New Zealand plus one in Sydney positions CallPlus to offer a wider range of customer-focused services while reducing its operating costs.
As a long-standing proponent of open access within New Zealand's telecommunications services market, CallPlus is intent on seizing the opportunities that will be created by the roll-out of the national Ultra-Fast Broadband and Rural Broadband initiatives, which will transform the way that New Zealanders communicate. With Juniper Networks MX80 routers in place, the company now has a first-class standards-based infrastructure to interconnect with the access network nodes operated by other service providers while enabling it to easily scale its backbone network to ensure high-quality customer services.
News Highlights
- As a competitively-priced yet fully-featured MPLS-enabled carrier-grade router in a small form-factor, the Juniper Networks MX80 is a good fit with CallPlus' scalability, functionality and business requirements.
- The MX80 routers help CallPlus reduce operating costs by enabling it to aggregate and groom its own traffic over a highly scalable MPLS backbone capable of supporting 10 Gigabit Ethernet links.
- With Junos running as the single operating system across its network edge, CallPlus benefits from streamlined network administration processes that act across the entire infrastructure, greatly simplifying network management and reducing costs.
- CallPlus plans to automate provisioning of managed services with the Junos Space Network Activate, an application that provides full MPLS service resource management, including automated network discovery, and point-and-click service provisioning, validation and troubleshooting.
