Iress Market Technology Chooses Juniper Networks for Client Connections
Juniper SRX Series and M7i Multiservice Edge Routers Keep Financial Market Application Provider Up-to-Speed
AUSTRALIA, Aug 2, 2010 — Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that Iress Market Technology, a stock market and wealth management systems provider, has selected an integrated routing and security solution running the Junos operating system for its next-generation client service network. Deployment of Juniper Networks M7i Multiservice Edge Routers at its data centers and SRX Series Service Gateways, installed as edge routers at client sites, enables Iress to deliver a very high quality-of-service with its hosted applications.
With major hubs in Melbourne, Sydney and Toronto, Iress offers sophisticated systems for all types of financial market participants. Its flagship product, IRESS, is the foundation for an ever-growing range of trading and portfolio systems for specialist equity market participants, while its wealth management division offers online and desktop solutions for financial planning professionals.
"It's no secret speed is a critical factor in successful financial trading: information must be disseminated and assimilated quickly, and then acted upon with rapid execution," said Dale Monger, Global Head of Networks at Iress Market Technology. "As a hosted application IRESS provides a raft of benefits to customers but it is essential that we keep pushing the envelope in terms of overall system responsiveness. We found the combination of Juniper Networks M7i routers and SRX service gateways offered the lowest levels of packet loss and latency, while also providing us with CapEx and OpEx advantages."
With its existing client network platform operating at its performance limits, Iress undertook six months of laboratory testing alternative solutions from Juniper and other vendors to find the platform with the best performance metrics. Juniper engineers were actively involved in this process, responding quickly to all technical queries and helping Iress develop different network design scenarios.
"In today's high-velocity trading environment every millisecond counts, which is why Iress is following the path NYSE Euronext and the Tokyo Stock Exchange in adopting a high-performance solution from Juniper Networks," said Shaun Page, vice president for Juniper Networks Australia and New Zealand. "Iress set a very high bar with its evaluation criteria and the Juniper M7i/SRX combination was, in fact, the only solution that met all its technical requirements."
