Network operators, content delivery networks (CDNs) and content publishers are all challenged to deliver web content to subscribers in a manner that is efficient, cost-effective and scalable. Juniper Networks Media Flow portfolio is a suite of next-generation content caching and delivery products that address these challenges. Media Flow can significantly improve the efficiency and scale of content delivery, and at the same time enhance end users' quality of experience.

Media Flow Activate

You can see Media Flow Activate in action here .

Juniper Networks Junos Space Media Flow Activate accelerates deployment of Media Flow products by providing simple web browser-based Graphical User Interface for device configuration, rapid service creation and service provisioning. Media Flow Activate runs on the Junos Space Platform, which provides a consistent management environment across the Juniper portfolio. With easy-to-use templates and the ability to centrally manage a large scale deployment, Media Flow Activate dramatically accelerates the activation of new devices, content delivery services and customers.

Ease of Management

Media Flow Activate uses a state-of-the-art Web GUI that simplifies the way network operators interact with the system. Its task-oriented user interface is designed to align with the needs of individual users. Workflows are devised in a way that caters to the roles and privileges of different operators. It supports Role Based Access Control (RBAC). With no client software needed, all you need is a web browser and secure Internet connection to manage Media Flow devices across the network from anywhere, at any time.

Scalable and Resilient Runtime Environment

Media Flow Activate runs on the Junos Space platform. The platform can be implemented as a scalable fabric of physical or virtual servers that work collaboratively to optimize network resiliency and resource utilization. Customers can expand or contract the server fabric by adding or deleting servers dynamically to match management service workload. The High Availability (HA) server cluster provides a resilient runtime environment where workload is distributed among all active servers, which can be taken in and out of service seamlessly, without service interruption.

Unified Network Operations Platform

Because Media Flow Activate is part of the Junos Space application suite, you benefit from its ability to manage and configure all Juniper devices in the network from a unified operations environment. Junos Space applications work together with a common, intuitive GUI to enable total management of your Juniper resources and assets, including device discovery, device configuration and service provisioning. This lowers operational costs by streamlining management tasks.

Open Architecture and Simple Integration

Together with the Space platform, Media Flow Activate exposes RESTful Web Service APIs for north-bound integration. Customers and third party developers can access these language-agnostic APIs to quickly build custom applications and integrate with their existing Operations Support Systems (OSS). REST (Representational State Transfer) is an industry standard architecture in which Web browser clients initiate requests to servers; servers process requests and return appropriate responses.  In this architecture web services are viewed as resources that are uniquely identified by their URLs. The key characteristic of a RESTful Web service is the explicit use of HTTP methods to denote the invocation of different operations. As a result, the APIs exposed by Media Flow Activate are usable across application development platforms (Java, .NET, PHP, etc).
